Does my utility bill have to be in my name?
During the Community Solar application process, we will ask for a copy of your electric utility bill. This utility bill doesn't need to be in your name to enroll in Community Solar — it can be in the name of your partner, child or anyone else who resides in your household.
That said, it helps with the application process if the name on your Altus Power Community Solar account matches the name on your utility bill. So, if your bill is in your spouse's name, please put the Community Solar application in your spouse's name as well. This will prevent any hiccups in the validation and enrollment process.
If your building manager or landlord pays your electric utilities each month, you will not personally be able to enroll in Community Solar. But you can put us in touch with them and we can look into enrolling the whole building.
