How does this compare to my utility bill?
Community Solar operates in connection with your current electric utility bill. When you enroll in Community Solar through Altus Power, you will continue receiving power through your electricity company and you must continue paying your electric bill.
Once you're enrolled in the program, you will begin receiving solar credits on your utility bill which will appear as a “transfer” or “adjustment," and they will lower your total electricity costs.
Subscribers on a Standard Dual Billing model will pay their electric utility bill and a separate Altus Power invoice each month for their solar credits at a discounted rate. Subscribers on a Utility Consolidated Billing model will not receive a separate invoice from Altus Power, and instead will see their final adjusted savings reflected on their monthly utility bill.
In either billing scenario, which depends on your state and utility company, you will receive the solar discount guaranteed in your subscriber agreement.
Here is an example of how your bills might look under a Standard Dual Billing arrangement. Please keep in mind that your discount will vary depending on your state and the Community Solar project you are assigned to, and this example is for illustrative purposes only.
